The Gold Award is the highest achievement within the Girl Scouts of the USA, earned by Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts. After 171 documented hours, a high school sophomore Girl Scout has earned her Girl Scout Gold Award.
“The Alzheimer’s Purple Project” was a huge undertaking. She attended seminars, had her own table at a Dementia Convention, Designed and handmade 40 Fidget Mats for hand dexterity & anxiety patients with Dementia and Alzheimer’s, designed and created a pamphlet to make Fidget Mats, volunteered at an Assisted Living Center, designed and hand painted a 10 x 20 foot “Memory Tree” mural in a Memory Center that has current residents pictured within the tree, designed a website, had her brochure added to professional Dementia and Alzheimers’ support websites, and learned a plethora of music from different generations and played among the community and memory Centers.
In June 2019, she will be honored at West Central Florida Gold Award Ceremony.
